GDPR is short form for the “General Data Protection Regulation.
It is a new data protection law which makes major changes to the rules that currently apply in the UK.
WHEN DOES IT COME INTO FORCE?
The EU’s General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) will apply from 25 May 2018, when it supersedes the UK Data Protection Act 1998.
WHO DOES IT AFFECT?
GDPR will affect every organisation that handles personal information, such as employee, customer and supplier personal information. Organisations will need to review how they handle personal information and make sure they are ready to comply with the new rules by 25 May 2018.
David Gourlay, Partner at MacRoberts LLP and Mike Callachan, Managing Director at MTC Media will be looking at how GDPR will affect an organisation’s online presence and how best to manage and mitigate risk. They will also consider the key legal issues and the real life issues of how data is captured and stored and for how long and what steps organisations should be taking to ensure their website is GDPR compliant.
